Controlling Entrances to Our Neighbourhood
The primary goal of the Faeriedale Security Village is to control entrances to our neighbourhood to reduce and eliminate unwanted people and vehicles that lead to criminal activities.
The final positioning of access control gates and booms is determined by a traffic impact study conducted by a local authority approved service provider. The following access control plan has been confirmed:
Three Access Points
Kromdraai & Henley Streets
Steel access gates closed at all times, including a pedestrian gate allowing one person to pass at a time. Entrance and exit lanes equipped with vehicle number plate recognition cameras. Registered residents access via ANPR — no interaction required.
Verena Street
The main 24-hour entrance and exit gate for residents, visitors, services, and contractors. Equipped with traffic control booms. Residents use ANPR; all other vehicles use hand-swipe sensor. Two cameras capture driver images and vehicle details.
Pedestrian Access
Pedestrian gates are linked to resident mobile phone databases. Staff call the gate (missed call — no cost), which releases for a timed window. CCTV monitors the gate; extended opening triggers a control room alarm.

24/7 professional monitoring centre managing alerts and camera feeds.

Dedicated patrol units respond rapidly to alarms within the village.
Always On
Each gate is fitted with a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) unit and backup generator to ensure the system keeps running even during load shedding or power outages. A dedicated service contract with our security provider ensures any malfunction is addressed immediately.
